How to check CPU usage in Task Manager?

To check CPU usage in Task Manager on a Windows computer:

  1. Open Task Manager:
    • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc, or
    • Right-click on the Taskbar and select Task Manager, or
    • Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete and choose Task Manager from the menu.
  2. Switch to the “Performance” tab:
    • If the Task Manager opens in a simplified view, click “More details” at the bottom.
    • Go to the “Performance” tab.
  3. View CPU usage:
    • Under the CPU section, you’ll see a graph showing real-time CPU usage as a percentage.
    • Below the graph, additional details about CPU performance will be displayed, such as:
      • The number of cores and logical processors.
      • CPU speed.
      • Threads and handles.
  4. Monitor specific processes:
    • Go to the “Processes” tab.
    • Check the CPU column to see how much CPU each application or process is consuming.
    • You can click the CPU column header to sort processes by their CPU usage.

This allows you to analyze overall CPU performance and identify any applications causing high usage.
